It happened in the wee hours of July 12th, 2019. I was asleep at the time. I hadn’t been thinking of selling photos lately, I was taking a break from photo finishing. When I first bought Luminar 3, I spent every possible second trying to learn the software while finishing pics and uploading them to Shutterstock. After a week or two of trying to do that while maintaining my regular job and life, I needed a break. I was taking a week or two off to focus on my day job, enjoying summer and trying to figure out what I was going to do for this year’s vacation. Somewhere in the middle of that, I got notification one morning that someone downloaded one of my pics. Awesome, I’m on the scoreboard!
The pic that sold is a close-up, side-view of the Athabasca Glacier in Alberta, on the Icefield Parkway. I made twenty-five cents! Woo-hoo! Lol.
Ok, ok, so I won’t get rich doing this. But, this tells me that I’m on the right track. While this is cause for (25 cents worth of) celebration, it also reminds me of how much I have yet to do. So, I’m marking this date on my calendar. My goal was to sell a picture within the 2019 calendar year. But I didn’t think it would happen until I was finished ALL of the work that I had planned on doing.
