The galleries below came as a result of a motorcycle trip through Montana; three ghost towns and the Bear-Tooth Highway ride.
Bannack Ghost Town
The Bannack ghost town focused on the buildings themselves, as opposed to the contents of the buildings. The structures are still in their original placement and it is safe to enter many of them. In some cases the ornate woodwork of the time is still visible. This was my favorite of the three ghost towns that I saw.
Bear Tooth Highway Ride
The Bear Tooth Highway ride straddles Montana and Wyoming. It’s a nice ride along the tops of mountain peaks. The scenery is quite nice, but there are not too many places to pull over and take pictures.
Virginia City & Nevada City Ghost Towns
The Virginia City and Nevada City ghost towns focus more on the contents of the structures, then the structures themselves. There are an extraordinary amount of period appropriate antiques in these building, and they do provide insights into what living during that era would be like.
